About Me
| My name is Tim Perry. I grew up a
Cardinals fan in south St. Louis. I drifted away from the
game in my early twenties, and the ongoing labor strife
in major league baseball did nothing to draw me back. But
in 1993 Susan and I took a vacation to Iowa. While there
we saw our first minor league baseball game at Veteran's
Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids. One time was all it
took to get me hooked on a different type of baseball
than I had known.
We saw the Midwest League team in Springfield, IL numerous times over the next couple of years and were disappointed when the Sultans left for Lansing, Michigan after the 1995 season. But soon the Frontier League came to town. We became Capitals fans, and went to a few games in Evansville, Indiana as well. I branched out and began seeing baseball in other minor league cities in the Midwest. To date I seen games in about 60 minor league parks, and have photographed over 100 in all. A major change in the way we viewed minor league baseball came in 1999 with the arrival of the River City Rascals in the St. Louis area. Although we lived an hour away from the ballpark, in 2000 we bought season tickets. I missed only one home game from 2000 to 2005. We also frequently follow the team on the road. In 2006 we saw road games in every Frontier League city. |

In 2001 we joined the River City
Rascals Booster Club, a group that supports the
Rascals players. In 2003-04 I served as president of the
organization while Susan served as secretary. We also now
host Rascals players in our home during the season.
Why build this site? I believe the Frontier League is one of the premier independent leagues in the country. Its early days did not receive the notoriety of the Northern League, but the Frontier League has quietly made quite a name for itself. I feel it is important that the players and cities of the league's early years get their due. I have been seeing Frontier League games since 1996 and have collected a great deal of material on the league. There's a desire to share what I have learned and experienced with the league's many fans throughout the country. My hope is that by visiting this site you will share my passion for and enjoyment of Frontier League baseball. |
| Since I started this website several years ago I have been surprised
and gratified at the reaction I have received. I have enjoyed hearing
from players from years past, fans from around the country, and team
officials. I also enjoy visiting with the friends I have made in cities
around the Frontier League. The website has now taken on a life of its own with the addition of the Frontier League blog and the Frontier League radio show. I you would like to contribute to either of these endeavors I would certainly appreciate the help. |

When I'm not at a baseball game, I am a
sales representative for Mirage Products
in St. Peters, MO, selling a variety of novelty items,
sunglasses, caps, figurines, etc. Susan also works at Mirage Products,
in the office.
I'm a big music fan. My favorite groups are Big Country, The Alarm, Stiff Little Fingers, The Clash, and Social Distortion. I also enjoy reading Civil War and WWII history and visiting Civil War battlefields. Susan and I love our church. We attend First Baptist Church Of Harvester. I'd like to hear from you. If you've enjoyed this site, drop me a line. |
